What is blogging?
Initially, blogging involved a personal web log, in which a person would write journals about their day. The term "blog" came from "web log". As days go on, many people use blogging in different ways including marketing and educational purposes.
What are the types of blog?
1. Weblog
A frequently updated website like an online journal on any kinds of subjects. Easy to set up and maintain. Can display pictures and videos as well as texts. An open public domain. Easily accessible online resources.
2. Tutor blog
Run by the teacher of a class. Blog content can be made up of syllabus material, course information, homework and assignments. Some tutor blogs also shares about reflections, culture and experiences that are related to the teaching materials.
3. Class blog
A site shared between class members. Teachers and students are able to post in the main section as well as comment. Class blogs can be used as a collaborative discussion space. Students are more involved with the content. Teacher as moderator.
4. Learner blog
Students own personal blog. Can be used as online journal where students are encouraged to share thoughts, reflect on lesson or write about what interests them. Encourages frequent out-of-class writing. Takes more time and effort for teachers to implement.
